What is the Samaritans Training School?
The Samaritans Training School is a brand new initiative to help Samaritans to recruit and train more listening volunteers.
Standard Life's donation will support Samaritans, the charity that is there for anyone who is struggling to cope, day and night, 365 days a year, to train approximately 400 new listening volunteers.
As well as supporting the Samaritans Training School for volunteers, colleagues within Standard Life's Vulnerable Customer Team have attended two courses delivered by Samaritans Training and Engagement Programmes (STEP) on how to spot the signs and support someone who might be struggling to cope.
As part of the partnership with Samaritans, Standard Life have produced an augmented reality campaign to highlight the importance of listening skills.
Colleagues from across Phoenix Group, including the Standard Life Vulnerable Customer Team, have benefited hugely from our partnership with Samaritans over the previous two years.
We know from our own work that the importance of listening cannot be underestimated, and that is why we have developed this video to bring to life five specific listening techniques using the acronym SHARE. This campaign will also encourage people to become a Samaritans listening volunteer and will help to raise further funds for their Training School
